Puppy beds are the most basic accessory needed, when a puppy is brought home because it would bring a sense of discipline and prevent the puppy from using your bed. When it comes to choosing a puppy bed, there is a dizzying array of choice, ranging from plastic beds, wicker beds, quilt beds, in various styles and shapes. There are even novelty beds and luxury beds for puppies.
The most common type of puppy bed is the wicker bed which is good looking and blend with the décor of the home. When the puppy lies in it, it makes a squeaky sound which would be liked by the puppy. But wicker beds tend to collect a lot of dust and dirt and hence, needs to be cleaned quite often.
In addition, puppies are known to chew things when they go through teething process and since wicker baskets are not very strong, chances are high that the puppy might ruin the basket, very soon. It would also cause more harm, if the pieces get into the throat of the puppy.
A plastic basket would seem as a good alternative which are very durable. The bean bag variety is another puppy bed which is very comfortable and offers a lot of space for the puppy to move about. They are washable too and keep free of smell and moisture.
Crate is also puppy bed which would be helpful while it is taken out. But, it is essential to be big enough for the puppy to move about, otherwise, the puppy would start hating it and refuse to get into it.
